kangas inspiring major fashion trends!
The bright cotton 'kangas' are what we call the 'african material' which we use for everything - from sarongs to carrying babies! If you have one you are in great luck. In 2010 the 'kanga' has had a high fashion reinvention - coming in high waisted skirts, maxi dresses, bags, hair bands plus more+ From Marc Jacobs to Louis Vuitton collections, these ranges will be available near you sooner than you think. Swap your safe block colours for the daring multicoloured African trends. Where to get these? - besides the usual shops, the Africa Fashion Weekend Dublin 2010 is bringing it all to you (2nd - 4th April 2010).
We also recommend - MyAsho.com - where local fashion is made global! My Asho works closely with local markets across Africa – sourcing distinctive, one-off pieces at amazing value. These pieces are carefully hand-crafted and tailored exclusively for myasho.com. MyAsho.com MARKET PLACE!

ms mi (My Sister Made It)
When I first came across the Ms Mi collection in London last year at the fab Camer Couture, I couldn't believe she had only been doing this as a hobby! Her designs combine African wax prints with leather, linen, chiffon and silk to create chic, directional garments that translate from day to evening including glamorous red-carpet-inspired Maxis.
For more on her collection - she will be live at the AFWDublin 2010 from April 2nd - 4th.

david tlale
David Tlale - this guy is super talented! I am always blown away by his amazing talent! Whether, it's the all Black Collection or the all Green Collection - his elegance shines through. He is the stylish Designer who won the Designer of the Year 2009/2010 award alongside Folake Folarin - Coker of Tiffany Amber Nigeria. He has also shown off his amazing talent at the prestigous Paris Fashion Week & Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, only to mention a few. He dressed Supermodel Jourdan Dunn at the Virgin Mobile Capetown Fashion Week in 2008, confirming him as South Africa's hottest talent! This guy has a vision and I could probably go on and on but for more on his work, check him out!

her name is....
Her name is Millen Magese! She's Tanzanian, face of 'Arise Africa Fashion Week 2009' and has appeared on just about every major Fashion Show in Africa (the ones that matter anyway!). Previously based in South Africa, last year she made a leap from Ice Model Management (South Africa) to FORD MODELS (New York). So she will be joining other big African supermodels & will do us proud of course! So keep your eyes peeled out and Watch this space...
